i have to start with just some plain old images of the mt. baker area. they speak for themselves.

i can't take credit for this one. danny spotted it on the outhouse at the top of the course. i don't get it. at all. but it's funny.

now, onto our cabin. don't get me wrong, this place was nice. 3 bedrooms, hot tub, kick ass "entertainment center" complete with rockin' keyboard and marginally functional 17" tube television, etc. however, the interior design in this place was clearly done by an indifferent miser who has to be nothing short of legally blind. this particular "piece" is a completed puzzle, shellacked and affixed with push pins. notice how this "work" is highlighted (although off-center) by the sconce. i think this lighting convention really highlights the intricate seams of the puzzle nicely. best part - this wasn't the only puzzle used as art in the house. the reading material was masterful as well, highlighted by the piece de resistance, garfield's ninth book (or something).

this picture doesn't do it justice, but this stage is on wheels, cruising down the course and these three guys lip-synced the beastie boys. i think the guy crouching down with the guitar is actually steering with the guitar. next time they came through, it was gnr.

this was amazing, the picture is nowhere near doing the act proper justice. first, this is a grown-ass man in a radio flyer with a cigarette in his mouth. second, the hill is STEEP! third, the hill is long and he was movin', i think he had to crash to stop the thing, but by that time, he was out of view.

brownsville to bend and back

brandon and i rode from brownsville to bend on (mostly) backroads. then, the next day we rode back on (mostly) backroads that were different from day one. not a lot to say....so just check some pics. unfortunately, i was too tired and frustrated to take any pics of the trail we took on the recommendation of some trailer park boys we met at the gas station in blue river, oregon. note to selves....don't listen to trailer park boys at gas stations in blue river, oregon unless they're discussing the culinary perplexities of squirrel meat.

in portland, that's a lot, even if if that is a kelvin conversion to make it sound way more Xtreme! anyway, it was hot and so the "freedom isn't free" came out from under her tarp, got some fresh gasoline and hit the mighty columbia.

note that janus has the best camera and is the best photographer in the group....thus, we're still waiting for the "good shots."

myself, dc and j-dog figured there was no better way to celebrate amurca's indeependence and freedomification from the limies then to proudly and patriotically ride our reediculusly expensive bi-cycles in that thar forest. so we dun did it, see:
