Mount Baker, Washington, United States of America

homeschool unveiling at legendary mt. baker banked slalom

baker table

i have to start with just some plain old images of the mt. baker area. they speak for themselves.

danny's homeschool banner at the top of the slalom, sanwhiched nicely between bonfire and anon

i can't take credit for this one. danny spotted it on the outhouse at the top of the course. i don't get it. at all. but it's funny.

after janus' first day run, beer garden

now, onto our cabin. don't get me wrong, this place was nice. 3 bedrooms, hot tub, kick ass "entertainment center" complete with rockin' keyboard and marginally functional 17" tube television, etc. however, the interior design in this place was clearly done by an indifferent miser who has to be nothing short of legally blind. this particular "piece" is a completed puzzle, shellacked and affixed with push pins. notice how this "work" is highlighted (although off-center) by the sconce. i think this lighting convention really highlights the intricate seams of the puzzle nicely. best part - this wasn't the only puzzle used as art in the house. the reading material was masterful as well, highlighted by the piece de resistance, garfield's ninth book (or something).

at the salmon bake at the end of day 2. i just like this shot for some reason.

janus going for full typical pinhead blog fame and fortune. mission accomplished!

this was not taken in front of a poster board.

i've got a undeniable talent for using the natural lighting to a disadvantage

pretty sure if i were retarded-filthy rich, i could handle a vacation home here, sedona

see?

chris and oz hiking in sedona

lost the beard in flagstaff....kept the sweet 'stache and shit-eating grin for an extra 47 seconds

shot from the car, gorgeous mountains located precisely in the middle of nowhere

mounting the middle sister (almost)

the intent was to reach the summit of the middle sister. not everyone made it.
starting point

daniel and sydney at the first creek crossing. next time i'll have packs for my dogs too.

look at my face, way too much crap in my bag. turns out my old boots weren't going to do me any favors either. i'm home and the boots are in the trash

lobo

view on the way up, broken top

about halfway up to the camping spot, dogs already finding shade, my feet already hurting

not a bad place to make camp

all set up and ready for the canadian whiskey

dusk at the camp

illegal (but very careful and safe) campfire, but the dogs were wet and it was damn cold

dawn

middle sister peak at sunrise

here's why i couldn't summit. it was hard enough just getting back down

south sister

north sister

zola back down at the lower creak crossing
